Green River Fishing Report

From the Bureau of Reclamation:

As of December 3, 2024 (end of day), Flaming Gorge Reservoir pool elevation is 6026.54 feet, which amounts to 85 percent of live storage capacity. Unregulated inflow volume for the month of November is approximately 38,700 acre-feet (af), which is 78 percent of the average unregulated inflow volume.

Winter Baseflow- Average daily release will be approximately 1,200 cfs until the end of February, pending hydrology.

Forecasted (tentative and subject to change) hourly release schedules can be found by visiting the Colorado River Basin Forecast Center (CBRFC) at this website:  CBRFC Reservoir Outflow Hydrograph

Please note that the CBRFC data is in Zulu time, which is 6 hours later than MDT. For example, 6 pm Zulu (Z) is 12 pm MDT.

The December unregulated inflow forecast into Flaming Gorge for the next three months projects below average conditions. December, January, and February forecasted unregulated inflow volumes are 30,000 af (91 percent of average), and 35,000 af (88 percent of average), and 38,000 af (84 percent of average), respectively.”

What this means:

Currently, Flaming Gorge Reservoir is operating on their double peak Winter release flow pattern. The flows are fluctuating between 900 CFS at 5 PM and 1,800 CFS at 3 AM. Water temperature is around 43.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Plan your day according to high water and ride the wave. Usually the streamer fishing is fantastic during this flow pattern.

Snowpack in the Upper Green River Drainage is sitting at 60 percent of normal. Snowpack in the Lower Green River Drainage is sitting at 91 percent of normal.

Provo River Fishing Report

Dam releases below Jordanelle Reservoir are at 151 CFS. Flows in Charleston are at 134 CFS. Flows below Deer Creek Reservoir are at 149 CFS. Current water temperatures are around 38 degrees Fahrenheit.

Winter fishing conditions are here and the fish are holding in the slower, deeper runs for the foreseeable future. There is some midge activity occurring midday and there are some rising fish that are targeting those midges on the surface. Fish small midges, sow bugs, and some other attractor patterns. Don’t be afraid to cover water and fish a streamer through the deeper runs and near cutbanks. You might be rewarded with some larger fish.

Current snowpack in the Provo River Drainage is sitting at 90 percent of normal..

Weber River Fishing Report

Releases out of Rockport Reservoir are currently at 23.6 CFS.

The river near Coalville is currently frozen over.

Releases out of Echo Reservoir are currently at .7 CFS.

River flows by Mountain Green are at approximately 66.1 CFS.

The low flows along the entire Weber River are not ideal for fishing. I would recommend angling elsewhere.

Current snowpack in the Weber River Drainage is sitting at 86 percent of average.
